PHEV stands for Plug‑In Hybrid Electric Vehicle. PHEVs have a gas engine and an electric motor (or motors) powered by a battery that can be charged by plugging it in.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV CUV drives using a combination of electric battery power and the gas engine. You can manually select your preferred driving mode thanks to the DNA Drive Mode Selector, or you can let the vehicle optimize your driving for you thanks to sophisticated software.
